Early morning apartment fire

A unit in a Windsor apartment caught fire early this morning.

The incident was in Rivard apartments located on Rivard and Tecumseh. Windsor fire said the blaze was contained to only one unit in the eight storey high rise. Evacuation was not needed as fire crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.  

The tenant of the unit was rescued by fire crews off her balcony. She is being treated at the hospital for precautionary reasons and currently she does not have any reported injuries.

The fire has been put out and there are currently two WFRS investigators determining the origin of the fire. Windsor Fire says they are also expecting the Ontario Fire Marshal to attend the investigation as well. He should arrive on scene around 3 p.m. today.
