Easter Seals Telethon 2018 is here
Windsor-Essex’s Annual Easter Seals Telethon is this weekend.
CTV Windsor will broadcast the 36th Easter Seals Telethon live on Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Central Park Athletics- 3400 Grand Marais Rd E.
The funds raised help children with physical disabilities so they can also enjoy activities like day camps, basketball, sledge hockey, archery, ropes program, swimming crafts and art classes. It provides financial assistance such as wheelchairs, walkers and communication devices.
Rebecca Rivard, the fundraising specialist, said the program gives kids the opportunity to go away from home and experience a wide range of fully accessible activities.
“The cost to send one deserving kid to either eastern Seals Camp Merrywood (Perth) or Camp Woodeden(London) is $2,500 for a 10-day session,” said Rivard.
Rivards said their goal is to raise $145,000 for the upcoming Easter Seals Telethon camp.
Morgan Bennett-Murphy, one of the ambassadors, said she is very excited about the Annual Easter Seals Telethon.
“I can’t wait for everyone to get together for the same reason, to help raise money for families who have children with special needs,” said Bennett-Murphy.
Bennett-Murphy also said every dollar donated helps a child in need and helps them live their lives with as much freedom as possible.
“They help kids simply be kids,” she said.
The event will feature local media personalities, sponsors, Easter Seals Alumni and 2018 ambassadors.
