Essex BeachWalk Fitness Relocating

After seven years, Essex county business BeachWalk Fitness decides to move onto the main road.

An Essex County business is moving and expanding into the downtown in order to offer more services to residents.

BeachWalk Fitness, a gym originally located in Belle River, expanded to several different towns including its present Essex building on Victoria Road in 2007. The building they are moving into is located on Talbot Street North. The building was previously occupied by Kinder Village, a local daycare.

The manager said the plans of relocation began because the building they currently owned is not visible to people driving through the town. Jenn Daoust said she is excited to be relocating, something she had wanted since their expansion to Essex back in 2007.

“Being on the main drag for us is critical and important for us to be in the face of our community,” said Daoust.

Daoust said when working within the community for events and wellness programs being on the main road helps them be more accessible. The new gym floor will not be much bigger than the current buildings although it will add several features other BeachWalk locations now offer. BeachWalk’s owner said the estimated total moving cost will be $100,000. With the new building three jobs were added through the new programs including a chiropractor, massage therapist and reflexologist.

Shantel Johnston, who has been with the company for three years said she was excited about the change.

“No new training will be required at this time but I will have to get used to new gym and show people around and get familiar with that and the new classes… Moving to a main road will prove to be busier but at least this way people will know who we are,” she said.

The gym will not close during the move. “There is no downtime to make the move smooth transition wise,” said Daoust. The building is near completion and is expected to be completed and opened Nov. 1.
