Everjonge home builder in Amherstburg

Homebuilding is a generational thing.

The Everjonge family started their business over 30 years ago in in Amherstburg and today are facing a little bit of a slower market due to interest rates – but said it is still one of the fastest growing  municipalities around.

“The housing market in Amherstburg is great,” said Nait Dejonge, director of Dejonge operations. “Like everything else right now. It’s a little bit slower due to the interest rates but long term the potential is awesome, and definitely going to be one of the most growth.”

Pronounced Ever Young, the company name stems from the husband-and-wife team who started the company, Allana Everitt and Ron DeJonge. Today it is facing a slower market because of the interest rate.

Dejonge said Kingsbridge South is a growing community situated outside the primary urban area of Amherstburg. It is close to many Primary and Secondary schools, many amenities such as grocery, banks, shopping and restaurants.

Amherstburg is really close to home for us.” Dejonge continued. “We’ve, been in this specific subdivision for many years. Now, Amherstburg is a beautiful place, right by the water. Lots to do lots of great place for retirees and new families coming to move. It’s getting more connected with the other cities and municipalities in Essex County with the new bus stop and allowing everyone to have more access to Amherstburg.”

People from all over Ontario are asking to buy the houses, and while Dejonge agreed that “definitely a big portion of the people is people coming from Toronto,” he said “it’s also other people within Essex County who are also moving in and so it’s a good mix of the population here.”

It takes around 200 days to build the single-family homes and around 300 to 350 for the four plexes houses.

“We’re building single family homes, two stories, raised ranches, great layouts for all different types of young families or retirees in the land and specifically we’re building ranch townhomes for plexes and semis as well as two storeys semi so does also fit a wide range of homeowner,” he said.

The DeJonge company have built over 70 houses in the project that they started a year ago and in the next phase they will have more than that of semi-detached houses.
