Health Unit running fall prevention clinics
By Amos Johnson
Death by fall is the leading cause of traumatic death in Windsor, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
Fall prevention month is an awareness campaign to help adults prevent injuries and stay active.
The Windsor-Essex County Fall Prevention Committee held an open house at The Safety Village on Nov. 1. This included fall prevention clinics and exercise classes.
Throughout the month, there will be three more fall prevention clinics occurring every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This Thursday’s clinic will take place at the YMCA, while the next two will be held at Life After Fifty.
According to Statistics Canada, every year it is estimated that one in three seniors aged 65 years or older is likely to fall at least once.
