Far Too Many Felines
By Grace Bauer
New studies show that cat overpopulation in Ontario is rising at an alarming rate.
The report, which was conducted by the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies, uncovered there are more than 9.3 million cats in Canada and not nearly enough homes willing to take them in. The report also said many humane societies in Canada are taking in more than double the number of cats as they are dogs. As well, the care for these cats is not at the same level as it is for dogs, which is something they are looking to improve on.
The solution to this problem is one that is an ongoing process, but in general Humane Societies across the country are working hard to spread awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering cats.
