A hit-and-run stabbing, resulting in death, occurred on Tecumseh Road near McKay Avenue over the weekend, marking the fifth homicide investigation in the region this year.

Police responded to reports of the stabbing around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

Police say two suspects fled the area on foot.

This is the fifth homicide investigation of 2019, according to Sgt. Steve Betteridge, Windsor Police public information officer. By this time in 2018, one of the worst years in Windsor’s recent history for murder rate, Windsor had nine homicides. By the end of 2018, Windsor police tallied a total of ten murders in the region.

The attack was not random, according to investigators. The investigation remains active.

A 19-year-old male from Windsor has been charged with first degree murder.

Police have said they are unsure how many suspects were in the involved vehicle. However, two more suspects, wearing distinctive clothing, were involved in the physical attack. Police have asked residents for help in identifying them.
