St. Clair College organized a Holiday Dance Fitness fund-raising event for students facing a food crisis on Nov. 28.

The college’s Students Representative Council decided to take the initiative as a complimentary service for students in need of foods, especially if they are experiencing financial trouble.

To support this initiative and to raise funds, the Music Theater Council at St. Clair College organized a Holiday Dance Fitness class.

The event was the brainchild of Paige Moore, head of Holiday Dance Fitness.

“Actually, Katie Ouellette one of the members of SCR, she had told us that we should get some fund-raising ideas or maybe we should use some of our talents and we are all dancers, so we thought it might be fun to do a dance fitness class,”  Moore said.

Students came in and took part in this initiative by dancing and donating funds. Approved applicants will receive one bag of food every month at the downtown TD Centre.

“I mean this was put by the music theater club which I am a part of, so I wanted to come out and support and it is for the food drive, which around Christmas is always a really important thing to do,” said student Cassidy Funk.

Although applications have closed for the Food Bank,  it is under review to open again.
