Devonshire Mall has opened its doors to the most requested and popular American-based retail chain, Forever 21 Red.

Many Windsorites see the opportunities it will bring to the city, such as job creation and stimulating the economy. The trendy store is known by the name Forever 21, however, in recent years, the concept of Forever 21Red has surfaced.

This store allows customers to purchase more merchandise for less money. The quality of the clothing has not decreased, but the quantity has increased.

Forever 21 is an internationally branded, with locations in the US, Mexico, Japan, China, Korea, India, Canada, and some locations in Europe.

A new hire at Forever 21 Red, said the store will bring several jobs to the city, especially the younger generation full of teenagers and young adults desperate to find a job because of the overwhelming costs of education, transportation, and personal expenses.

“It will boost the economy and give teenagers jobs because Windsor is at its all-time low.”

Devonshire Mall’s Marketing Director, Karen Niforos, explained how they sought out their particular location for months in advance due to its strategic benefits. The location of the new retail store is located around across from The Bay, down the hall from Booster Juice, and around the corner from H&M and Sport Check.

“I think Forever 21 Red is definitely going to add a new element to the centre. It’s over 17, 000 square feet of retail. They’re first to the market for us, for the city of Windsor, so they’re going to add a lot to the centre and a lot to the city.”

Niforos addressed the question Windsorites have been asking as to why Forever 21 Red has not opened in the old Target building.

“You know when things like this happen, it happens years in advance a lot, so that plan was set and we’re really, really happy with where it is, and they’re really happy with the location as well.”

Niforos also explained the hiring process and said Forever 21 Red has hired over 100 people.

“We had a job fair up here that lasted five days, and they saw hundreds and hundreds of people. It was very successful, and they did the training here a couple of weeks ago.”

Forever 21 Red has only been open since Sat. Oct. 31, and so far has proved to be the success it was predicted to be. Only time will tell if it continues down this victorious path.
