Richard Peddie appeared in Windsor Nov. 21 to discuss his vision for the city.

The former CEO of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment was the guest speaker for the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual general meeting held at the Giovanni Caboto Club.

Peddie, who was born in Windsor, said the city has the potential to be a great community, but must first become more environmentally-friendly and more bicycle-friendly in order to attract more young professionals to the area. He said this vision would require-well planned, long-term strategies to be put in place by city council.

Peddie also said he looks forward to Toronto’s mayoral election next year and can’t wait to see Rob Ford replaced.

“Rob Ford is a complete embarrassment,” said Peddie. “They say city hall can run without a mayor, but all teams need a leader.”

According to Peddie, Mayor Eddie Francis has been running Windsor well and said he would welcome Francis in Toronto.
