Chimczuk Museum offered a fun day for kids to explore the museum on March 23.

During professional development days at local elementary schools, the Chimczuk Museum offers a day program for kids to explore the museum and learn about Windsor history. Chimczuk Museum houses permanent exhibits on the history of Windsor area, the native people’s culture and the development of the City of Windsor.

A scavenger hunt is one of the main activities the museum offers for kids on PD days. The kids are given a piece of paper that includes questions and pictures so they can fill in the blanks and then locate the artifact within the gallery.

“If they finish they get a treat at the end,” said Madeline Dellavalle, curator of Chimczuk museum.

The purpose of the game is to help the kids learn and discover the gallery in a different way.

“This way they get to run around and find things,” said Dellavelle.

Other activities are offered where parents can also have some fun with their kids.

“We have the dress up section where you can put on clothing from 1812,” said Dellavelle.

Volunteers at the Chimczuk Museum are there to welcome adults and kids as well as show them around every day and on every P.D. day.

“There is a lot of history in this little building,” Irene Hawkings, a volunteer at the museum.

Chimczuk Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Mondays.

The general admission is $5.25, family rate is $15.50 and is free to museum members, as well as volunteers.
