Garage fire forces resident from home

A tenant has been displaced following an early-morning garage fire in the 400 block John M Street.

Firefighters say the blaze caused an estimated $65,000 in damage. Investigators pinpoint an overheated battery charger as the likely cause.
There were no injuries though the tenant was forced outside because of heavy smoke.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee said fire crews from “stations 5, 2 and 7” doused the blaze.
