Gas prices climb again in Windsor-Essex

The average price at the pumps is $1.75 per litre in Windsor Monday.
According to Ontario’s Natural Resources website, things like changes in world crude oil prices, the ability of supply to meet demand, inventory levels and competition between retailers all play a part in pricing.
Global events such as the war in Ukraine, weather disasters or refinery breakdowns are also factors.
For us here in Essex County it could be worse. The further north you go, the higher the prices.
And it won’t get better any time soon — experts predict prices will stay high over the next few days.
Brent Brien is the co-owner of International Expeditors in Windsor and had this to say about how the rising fuel costs have affected their business. “We are extremely focused on the length of vehicles, the amount of gas on the vehicles and the routing of each vehicle. We used to be able to just send a truck over the border instantly at any whim of a call, now we make sure if it can fit on another vehicle it goes on that vehicle.”
Here are a few tips that may help to save a bit on gas.
- Use gas apps to find cheap gas near you.
- Enroll in a gas rewards program and try to get gas at the stations that offer the rewards.
- Using a credit card that collects rewards at the pump can be a good idea if you pay your card off every month. Paying interest charges isn’t helping you save money.
