Grenade found in Thames River
Last weekend, Chatham-Kent-Police received a call from a citizen who was “magnet fishing” in the Thames River near the new bridge. The man had caught what appeared to be a live grenade.
The police took the photographs of the grenade and sent to the Canadian Military for identification. The Bomb Disposal Unit identified the item as a M36 grenade.
The area was secured until members from Camp Borden attended to retrieve the grenade. No one was injured.
