Gun amnesty in hundreds

The Ontario Provincial Police have had a remarkably high number of gun surrenders over the last month.
The OPP announced in March that they would be collecting illegally purchased or unwanted guns and accessories that people from across Ontario wished to surrender safely.
As of April 16, the OPP has recorded 218 surrendered firearms as a result of the gun amnesty according to a CTV Windsor article from across the province.
In total, 267 items have been surrendered to officers across Ontario during appointments made with OPP officers.
Along with the 267 guns and gun accessories that were turned over, approximately 5,200 rounds of ammunition were surrendered as well, including illegally owned hollow point rounds.
To surrender a weapon or weapon accessories, you must make an appointment with your local OPP or local police service by calling 1-800-310-1122 or through your local police service’s non-emergency number.
