Local businesses are looking ahead and beginning to plan and decorate for the upcoming holiday season.

Some businesses are already completely set up and others have yet to begin. Bombay, a furniture store located in Devonshire Mall, is already completely ready for the approaching season.

Craig Bruce, assistant manager, said that when it comes to setting up for the holiday season this early, “You have to jump on the holiday bandwagon before everyone else does.” Bruce says they have over 5,000 decorations to prepare specifically for the holidays.

“It is a lot of work when you have to unwrap, prepare and set up that many units.” said Bruce.   “But it’s not really that stressful, just busy.”

Although some other stores are ready to go, Le Château prepares differently. Rachel Troup, the merchandiser at Le Château, said that they will be setting up decorations midway through November, but have started training for the holiday season.

“We have longer hours now and we are beginning to work with different fabrics,” said Troup. “I’ve worked here for 10 years and it’s the same idea every year so it’s not too difficult to work with.”

When it comes to decorations she said the store will have it done for Nov. 15 and that’s a more reasonable time to set up compared to other stores.

“I think middle of November is the best time to get people in the gear for the holidays since we just passed other ones,” said Troup.

When preparing for holidays, Mastermind Toys looked ahead to December as early as September. Angela Overholt, a sales associate at the store, said that since they are a toy store, they have to begin early.

“Yesterday it was seven weeks until Christmas and we’re a toy store. Ee have to look ahead,” said Overholt.

She said that some parents also begin shopping several months before Christmas so that has an influence on when they start to decorate and prepare.

“In September we start offering our Christmas wrap because some parents come in and get shopping done around then,” said Overholt.

These businesses and others are well prepared whether or not they have their decorations set. They are aware that they have get ready for the holiday season since it is their busiest time and is only less than seven weeks away.TYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYLER COLOUR
