American Thanksgiving is the time a lot of families gather to celebrate.

It also marks two massive shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Twenty years ago, Canadian retailers jumped on the Black Friday bandwagon – and it’s been a race to the ‘best price’ finish line ever since.

Cyber Monday gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic, raising the question of whether shopping in person will become a thing of the past.

Here’s what some consumers had to say.

LaSalle resident Amy Pluck said her Black Friday dollars are spent “probably online more than in person.”

When asked whether she would brave Black Friday crowds in person, she said “no never, never have.”

Others were more daring.

“On Black Friday I will be going out because some of the offers are not available online, it will be only available in stores,” said a University of Windsor student who declined to provide her name.

Black Friday takes place Nov. 25 with Cyber Monday falling on Nov. 28.
