Kids in care of Children’s Aid get help to stay in their home schools
The Children’s Aid Society can now help foster kids stay at their home school, instead of moving each time they’re placed with a new family.
The Ontario government recently provided $300,000 to both the Windsor Essex County Catholic District School Board and Greater Essex County School Board to help with the cost of transporting the children daily.
The funding is expected to help many children in difficult circumstances, who often face the stress of having to move to a new location and leave behind their home school and friends.
“The Children’s Aid Society has tried as much as possible to keep the children in their home school, but with this funding, we can ensure that they will. It’s a funding contribution that is made to the two school boards and I think that’s happening across Ontario school boards,” said Mike Clark, a spokesperson for Children’s Aid.
According to Clark, it will help create a more normal environment for the children and more stability.
