Largest art show in Windsor celebrates Canada 150
Local artists were going for the “wow” factor at the largest local art show in the region this fall.
More than 200 paintings were on display at the Windsor Crossing outlet mall from Oct. 20 to Nov. 12 – all original works.
The show, organized by the Association of Representational Artists, opened with a juried Canada 150 competition called “Your Canada.”
Other artists were exhibiting work of a more international nature.
“My painting style is more child-like and somehow they tend to reflect the primary life in Panama. The Indians do it on stitches. I do it on canvas with acrylic paints,” said artist Marisa Kachmaryk.
Other artists were sharing personal stories through their art.
“This is a tribute to the closing of the Barnum & Bailey circus this past April, after 146 years,” said Mariano Klimowicz, an organizer and artist. “I use to go the circus at Cobo Hall in Detroit during the 1960s and 70s. I always loved the clowns.”
He had eight paintings in the show that he hoped would “stimulate your eyes and mind.”
Three artists were named as winners for the juried show: Debbie Goldring, Joyce Klimowicz and Dennis K. Smith.
