Library board unveils plans for $39M downtown branch
The Windsor Public Library board has unveiled preliminary plans for a $38.7 million, 70,000 square-foot library in downtown Windsor.
The project still needs to be approved by city council, which would provide the bulk of the funding, and a location needs to be finalized. Ideas being considered include the riverfront and a location near the International Aquatic Centre.
The new library will replace the current library on Ouellette Avenue, which was sold to the Downtown Mission for $3.6 million.
City Hall will be the temporary location for the downtown branch starting in June of 2019.
The new library should be completed by 2026.
