To the people behind Life After Fifty, seniors are a valuable part of our community and should get the support they need.

The community organization held its 10th annual information and active living health fair at Caesars Windsor on Nov. 24.

More than 40 local vendors and presenters set up a variety of booths at the fair to showcase the services and health resources in Windsor that promote active seniors living. They included government services, health care providers, home safety suppliers, retirement residences, memorial services, financial planners, assistive device vendors and recreation sources.

“I can just hear the energy, I can feel the energy, we getting a lot of seniors come in,” said Martha Mackintosh, organizer of the fair. “But you don’t have to be a seniors to come in.”

She said one of the first people to arrive was a younger woman who brought in her grandmother and wanted to find out about fall prevention.

“That’s what makes me excited (when) one of the family comes in and support the seniors, to be here so they can be more independent, learn about what’s valuable to them and (feel) supported too.”
