Lighting the Way for loved ones at Devonshire Mall
There’s at least one charity hoping Windsor shoppers will pause during the spending sprees to help others who are less fortunate.
The Windsor-Essex branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is kicking off its Light the Way campaign this week at the Devonshire Mall.
Kerri Hill, an employee of CMHA-WECB, said that their program helps a variety of people.
“Our program supports both children and adults,” said Hill.
The event sells paper stars to shoppers in exchange for $2-donations.
Those who buy the stars will also have the opportunity to write the names of a loved one on it, to be hung up on one of their display trees.
Proceeds from Light the Way will support CMHA-WECB’s Bereavement Program and Client Assistance Fund.
Their bereavement program, is available for people who are 16 years of age and older, and provides free counseling, and coping mechanisms for individuals who have recently lost a loved one.
Light the Way will run from Nov. 22 – Dec. 26.
