The Chthonic Youth’s art project has been attracting locals to the downtown Windsor visual display.

Local artist Gustave Morin and his artistic display has been drawing in many Windsorites with his collage of artwork. Between Oct.13 and Nov.19 Morin will be working hard on his interpretive display, adding on to it each day. He refers to the art piece as “an adventure.”

Morin has been a solo artist, poet and author since 1988, ever since he and his family moved to Windsor from Kitchener, Ont. in 1980. He has been writing for 26 years and has been an artist for 28 years.

Morin said he has always sent his work out of the city, and has done two other small events like this before, but never something to this degree.

“This is my third solo show,” said Morin. “My first show I did in St. Catherine’s in 1999.”

Throughout the years, he has been working hard on his many published and self-published books, such as A Penny Dreadful, The Etcetera Barbecue and Clean Sails among many others.

A closing reception was scheduled for Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. where people could browse his artwork and talk to him in person about his work.

“It’s meant to be enjoyed and that’s why I’ve let everyone come in here to take pictures, I just tried to make it a gift,” said Morin. “It’s a gift for me so it gets to be a gift for everyone else.”

Morin said he has been working with Artcite Inc. since 1990, co-hosting events and coming to shows.

“He is a visual contemporary artist,” said Christine Burchnall, the executive director of Artcite Inc.

Morin hopes to continue his work and doing what he loves to do.

“This has been a journey. I’ve learned a lot about myself, I’ve learned a lot about the public, I’ve learned a lot about this process,” said Morin. “I took this on as a challenge knowing I can do it.”
