Local artist encourages Windsor creativity
By Kaitlynn Kenney
A young artist has been drawing the attention of Windsor locals — and using his passion to make a difference in the community.
Eugenio Mendoza and the Art Lab recently hosted its first mini art lab where customers could freely paint their own mural with anything from spray paints to pigmented markers.
Samantha Walker, president of The Art Lab, said they also host birthday parties for children.
“We are just trying to do something different for the city, something that is unique to our area,” said Walker. “You can’t get it in Toronto or London or any other place, but Windsor.”
Mendoza, better known by his Instagram handle @thedreameugene or ‘Drevmz’ was offering creative advice and teaching how to use spray paint, which he said is hard to manipulate.

“Usually when I teach, I’m joining in on Sam’s lesson plan but tonight figured out the curriculum,” said Mendoza.
Mendoza said this will be the first of many classes. He said the first class was a success and hopes it will grow in popularity.
Mendoza is currently in collaboration with The Art Lab and is teaching under them. He said he is grateful for the opportunity it has given him in the community.
Mendoza has made headlines for his public displays of art and often paints in front of onlookers. He’s happy for the steady work offered by The Art Lab.
