The Chimczuk Museum was a mecca for holiday shoppers last Sunday.  About 20 local artists participated in an art sale and much of their handmade artwork was created from locally sourced  items.

Artist Nancy Anger says this is an important creative outlet in her life.

“I’m a basket maker. I enjoy it. I like working with natural items, sweet grass … I always have love coming here,” said Anger. “It’s a good way to showcase the artisans from the area.”

Sarah Tremblay volunteered at the sale.  She sees a lot of local creativity and talent and thinks these business ventures are important for both artists and shoppers.

“It is to buy local handmade things to support local businesses (and) local artists.”

The sale primarily showcased crafts, but there were also entertainers creating balloon animals and magicians giving lessons.  Visitors had the opportunity to purchase a limited edition Museum Windsor Christmas glass ornament and the Chimczuk offered free admission that day to the rest of the museum.

Events like this serve to profit local artisans and help holiday shoppers find unique gifts.
