Local comic book store is expanding

A local comic book store is putting finishing touches on their upstairs section after expanding.
Rogues Gallery Comics, a downtown Windsor store, has recently knocked down the upstairs wall to expand the store. According to owner Shawn Cousineau, there has been a plan to expand since the doors first opened nine years ago.
“The expansion will allow us to do a lot more,” said Cousineau. “We’re going to have things such as graphic novel clubs, game nights, demo games, field trips, Hero Clix, Dungeons & Dragons and whatever else the room asks for.”
Although the store’s expansion is intended to benefit the business, there can be problems that come up along the way.
The store’s expansion has been delayed in the past. According to Cousineau, the expansion was supposed to be done and open to customers by Aug. 1 this year. However, he does expect the upstairs to be finished and open within the next two weeks.
“Having the upstairs closed while renovations are happening is costing us a couple bucks a day. I find that it disappoints the little kids more than anything because they can’t go through the bins of toys,” said Cousineau.
With the expansion known to many regular customers, many say they’re excited to hang out at the store and embrace their inner.
Nicholas Rogers, a regular customer, is excited and patiently waiting for the upstairs to be open.
“I spend a lot of my down time at the comic shop. The expansion of the store gives me a good reason to go more frequently now,” said Rogers.
Although the renovations has been tough to deal with for the store owner and customers of all ages and nerdyness, Cousineau expects it to be for the greater good.
“It’s been a tough couple of months that will totally be worth it in the long run,” said Cousineau. “I look forward to seeing new faces and a new type of nerd.”
