Junior B

The Leamington Flyers played the London Nationals to a scoreless tie Thursday, Oct. 1. at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreations Centre. Flyers’ goalie Tyler Wall made 31 saves during the tie. The Flyers play the LaSalle Vipers Sunday at the Vollmer Centre at 2:30 p.m.

Saints Golf

The women’s golf team at St.Clair came home with a bronze medal from the OCAA golf championships. The Saints finished with a three day team total of 494 shots. The men’s team, however proved victorious as they won the Division II gold medal. The men’s team finished with a three tam total of 932 to claim the championship.

AKO Football

Receiver Llevi Noel was named the Onatrio Football Conference’s offensive player of the week. En route to a 68-7 win over Hamilton, Noel caught five passes for 146 yards and four touchdowns. Teammate and defensive linemen Darren Quennell was named defensive player of the week. Quennell had four solo tackles, three assists and four sacks in the win.

New Coach

Paul Fixter, a former player and coach for the University of Windsor Lancer men’s hockey team has been hired as the assistant head coach with the Rochester Americans. Fixter won two Stanley Cups as a coach with the Colorado Avalanche.

Top Coach

St. Clair College golf coach, Kevin Corriveau was named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Coach of the Year following the OCAA golfing championships held in Welland, Ont. on Wednesday night. Corriveau, who has coached the Saints golf team for 14 years, has won five team women’s medals to go along with four team medals in the men’s division.

Cross Country

The Saints cross country team competed at the Sault College Invitational in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Crimson Ridge Golf Club Saturday morning. Their second event of the season saw the Saints capture gold lead by second year Natalie Omahen, posting a time of 21:47 which was good enough for 3rd place in the 5km race. Head coach Paul Boots Sr., in his first year with the Saints, picked up his first collegiate win. The Saints will be heading to their next event at the Seneca College Invitational on Oct. 17.
