Local sports program includes everyone

Sport 4 All is one of the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative programs which contains four neighbourhood renewal organizations working in urban areas across Windsor. It aims to create barrier-free opportunities for sports and physical activities to citizens.
“It’s really important, especially for children, to have an opportunity to do sports,” said Jahn Thompson, director of Sports 4 All.
Thompson believes there are some barriers for sports, especially for children. For cost, safety and other reasons, trouble exists in young students. Thompson said sports are a very important way for people to stay healthy.
There is an after-school program that specifically focuses on students. They hold cost-free activities every Thursday for children in downtown Windsor.
It is also a chance to communicate with others.
“Students come here also can speak to each other and make them familiar with English,” said Thompson.
The Sport 4 All program is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The four neighbourhood programs involved in Sport 4 All are West End Neighbourhood Renewal, Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative, The Initiative: Glengarry to Marentette and Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal.
