A local teen is starring in the fifth episode of the opening season of the CBC sitcom “Schitt’s Creek.” Brandon Rollo, 18, is a University of Windsor first-year student in the drama program who auditioned in March and got the part of “goth kid.” According to Rollo, the audition process went smoothly and filming started in April of last year at Pinewood Toronto Studios, a studio which has been used to film blockbuster films like Carrie, Robocop and Kick-Ass 2.
“It’s a surreal feeling to be a part of a show that stars comedic legends like Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara,” said Brandon Rollo. “I received very positive feedback from actors, producers and crew members regarding my performance…Eugene Levy told me that I left a very big impression on them, which was one of the most memorable parts of this experience,” said Rollo. “Working on Schitt’s Creek was an extraordinary learning experience where I got a glimpse into the career I’m pursuing.”
Rollo said his friends and family have been proud of his role in the sitcom.
“I think the show is extremely funny and it must be a great experience for Brandon for his future career,” said Robert Roeder, a friend of Rollo’s. “It’s nice to see people be given the chance to prove what they can do and I think Brandon took advantage of it.”
According to Rollo, he has appeared only in the background of the second episode and only has a role in the fifth episode of the season. “Schitt’s Creek” is a Canadian sitcom starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara and airs on CBC at 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights.
