The Royal Bank of Canada is choosing youth around Canada to make a difference in the community with the Make 150 Count Challenge.
A post on the RBC website states: “Instead of looking back, we’re looking forward, to the people who will shape Canada’s future. We believe in the potential of young Canadians and want to empower them to act on their passions, hopes and ambitions – for themselves, for their communities and for Canada.”
“I hope the student we all chose represents us well in the community and will gave back to the community,” said Gia Ataman a 38-year-old advice expert at the RBC bank on Ouellette.
For the first time the Royal Bank of Canada will chose 15 youth and give them $150 to make it count in the community of Windsor .
Sarah Lewis, a 15-year-old Windsor youth, was chosen to participate in the challenge. “I got the package yesterday.” said Lewis.
Lewis was chosen because of her dedication to the community. She has been donating socks to the homeless community for nine years.
“I donated over 20,000 socks and $60 in cash,” said Lewis.
Amanda Ward, 38, is the manager of Client Care at the Ouellette branch. She said there are 15 branches in the Windsor area so every branch had to choose one youth in the community.
“Each youth got $150,” said Ward.
The Make 150 Count Challenge will be going on throughout Canada from November 2016 to June 2017. If you want more information search #Make150Count online.
