Man pulled from Detroit River dies in hospital

Windsor Police Services retrieved a male found floating in the Detroit River Jan. 31 and transported him to hospital. The 53-year-old man died the next day.

Emergency crews received the report at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 31 and arrived on Riverside Drive West to attempt a rescue.

Police said a witness claimed there were two people in the Detroit River and that the second was female.

Windsor Fire and Rescue personnel worked with EMS to pull the male body from the water.

Police officers were still searching for another person on Feb. 2, at the time of the last update.  A Detroit Coast Guard helicopter also searched the area, but no one else was found.

Windsor Police Major Crime Branch continues the investigation.
