The 2015 Ontario Federation Athletic Association basketball “quad-A” championships are under-way at the St. Denis Centre.

The tournament runs from Mar. 9-11 with two teams representing the Windsor-Essex region. The Holy Names Knights were first to the hard-court as they took on Eastern Commerce Colligate Institute, in their first game of the tournament, playing to a 55-54 victory.

Starting the fourth quarter down seven points, the knights fought their way back to just a two point deficit with under 10 seconds remaining. Isiah Familia took a hand-off pass onto the far wing and drilled a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to end the game.

“I’ve been playing basketball for twelve years and have never hit a game-winning shot,” said Familia. “It felt good especially against a talented team like Eastern Commerce.”

The number eight ranked St. Anne Saint’s take on SJA McDonald in their first contest Mar. 9 at 2:45 p.m. at the St. Denis Centre. Both teams aim for gold as they continue the week, follow TheMediaPlex.com for game updates
