Massive Fire Engulfs a House Late Monday Morning
On Oct 28., around 4 a.m., Windsor Fire and Rescue Services responded to the 800 block of Mercer Street for reports of a structure fire. On arrival, fire crews had a fully involved house fire.
Fire crews went defensive on the structure due to it being unstable in order to make entry. There was a full collapse of the roof due to the intensity of the fire. Windsor Fire had truck one and truck two up in the air from both sides of the house hitting it from above.
There were no reported injuries.
The surrounding roads in the area were closed by Windsor Police as fire crews worked. Essex-Windsor EMS was on scene assisting fire crews.
The area was shut down for several hours as crews worked.
On Oct. 29, Windsor Police investigators with Windsor Fire Investigators and the Ontario Fire Marshal were on scene conducting their investigation, to determine the cause of the fire.
The cause is still undetermined and investigators still continue to work to find the cause of the fire.
