Windsor residents have started a petition to keep a piece of history open to the community.

Mayor Drew Dilkens is currently in Chicago meeting with executives to prevent the closure of the Canadian Club Brand Centre on Riverside Drive.

The historic building has been up and running for 125 years now, attracting visitors and residents from all over Windsor and beyond.

Coun. Ed Sleiman says he understands why people are disappointed in the decision.

“It’s devastating to the community,” Sleiman says. “Devastating to all those visitors who have attended the place or are planning on coming in this year to see it.”
