Residents looking to cross the border may have to change their routes on a few nights.

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will be closed on four upcoming Thursdays, as the tunnel is winding down on their $22-million renovation project. The closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on  Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.

Renovations on the 89-year-old tunnel began in 2017.  The original concrete ceiling is being replaced, as well as electrical and other upgrades.

According to the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, approximately 12,000 vehicles pass through the tunnel each day.
