More than 7,800 cases of coronavirus confirmed worldwide
The World Health Organization has confirmed more than 7,800 cases of coronavirus worldwide, as of Jan. 30, 2020.
More than 7,700 of those cases have been reported in China. Cases have been confirmed in 18 countries.
The WHO has named the virus a public health emergency.
Symptoms of the virus include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
“Treat it like a normal flu, if you are concerned see a health care professional, come to the hospital if necessary,” said Steve Erwin, spokesperson for Windsor Regional Hospital.
No cases of the virus have been reported in Windsor or Essex County, but Windsor Regional Hospital has set up isolation rooms as a precaution. Erwin said the threat of coronavirus to people in Windsor-Essex is low.
