Movie Review: Boo! A Madea Halloween
By Zachary Balogh
Boo! a Madea Halloween stars Tyler Perry, Cassie Davis, Patrice Lovely and Damon White. Boo is a comedy/horror film that takes place on Halloween night and sees the characters fighting clowns, zombies and each other.
The film follows a then 17-year-old Tiffany Bryan who is invited to a Halloween party held by a neighboring fraternity. Her dad Brian Simmons who does not want her to go hires his aunt Madea, his father Joe, Aunt Bam and Hattie Mae Love to watch her when he leaves for business.
One positive to this film is the acting and how Tyler Perry brings it every single time. The comedy is really brought out when either of our characters are faced with the more horrifying characters.
Another aspect of this film was the set design. The house that was intended to be Brian and Tiffany’s house was a beautiful set, especially when it came to the interior with old school wooden frames, however the colour choice was not a suitable one to say the least.
This film certainly had some memorable scenes such as when Madea punched a clown in the attic. This scene alone is what happens when you mix suspense, thriller and comedy in one, like making an elastic ball out of different types of elastic bands. Another memorable scene is when Madea crashes the fraternities Halloween party and brings out her “stripper days” alter ego during a performance by Tyga.
In summary I really enjoyed this film and I applaud Tyler Perry for mixing comedy, horror, suspense and thriller. This was an enjoyable film and I recommend this film for anyone who is looking for some Halloween fun. 4 ZZZZ’s
