Movies have an impact
In its 15th year, the Windsor International Film Festival is having an impact on its audience.
The ongoing festival is showcasing 143 films. One of these is Windsor filmmaker Theodore Bezaire’s Boys vs Girls, which played to a full house on Nov. 2.
According to Bezaire, growing up watching film affected his decision to become a filmmaker.
“I think film can be a wonderful learning tool which makes storytelling ingrained in us,” said Bezaire. “Movies can make you happy when you’re sad and sad when you’re happy. They have a real power over people.”
According to The Cinematic Mirror for Psychology and Life Coaching 2009 edition, psychologists can use movies to help patients release emotions.
Ranjit Singh, 25, said he watches between three to four movies a month and believes in the power of cinema.
“Movies are important to people, they get to know about history and they can spend time with their friends and family,” said Singh.
WIFF ends on Nov. 10. Tickets and more information are available at windsorfilmfestival.com.
