Musical new mom writes songs especially for babies
New mother and Windsor musician Crissi Cochrane recently hosted a baby serenade concert at Connections Early Years Center.
Inspired by her friends, Cochrane is starting to spread her sultry and soulful brand of music to a younger generation. She said she wants to make unique music that is especially appealing to babies.
She starts with lyrics first and then takes one or two hours to add the music, she said. Sometimes the lyrics and melody come to her at the same time.
Writing songs for babies is different than writing songs for adults, said Cochrane.
“For babies, I try to make it more of a lullaby, something kind of gentle and soothing that might help baby drift off to sleep. For adults, sometimes it makes them more upbeat, exciting and fun,” Cochrane said, “but I mean every baby is different so the songs sometimes might be more pop-like.”
More than 15 families attended the concert.
