Celebrating the new moon, a group of Windsorites gathered to collaboratively activate and appreciate Mahatma Power, described by some of its followers as “the highest power on the planet.”

Gathering at the White Feather Holistic Arts Centre on Ottawa Street, around 20 people took part in a two hour session of peace, love and healing. The event was headed by Mary Kush who has been involved in Mahatma Energy since its induction in 2012.

“This energy works with peace, it is white energy with gold (in it),” said Kush, who also described the rays that take on the colours of participator’s energy. “It’s a very powerful energy but it’s an energy of peace, it will help people become comfortable in their own skin.”

The title Mahatma Energy lies in Indian origins, meaning “great soul.” According to Kush one does not have to hold an exclusive belief in Indian deities for Mahatma Energy to work. Anybody from any religious or spiritual background can take part.

The experience was open to first time partakers as well which is the case with Tracy Rogers, the owner of the White Feather Centre.

“The experience was wonderful. I feel clear, grounded, peaceful and calm. By the end of the workshop I just felt so overwhelmed with love,” said Rogers.

According to Kush, to participate in Mahatma one has to be a Reiki master, a Japanese term meaning universal life force energy. All of the participants of the evening were required to have proper qualifications to engage in the activities.

However, according to Rogers, qualifications in the art of “Reiki” are not what makes one a master in it.

“You become a master by taking courses but I don’t believe just taking courses is what makes you a master,” said Rogers. “What makes you a master is incorporating it in your daily life when you’re feeling stressed out, anxious, or you need healing, remembering to give yourself some self-Reiki.”

Mahatma Energy, said Kush, existed on the planet once before in Atlantis, but after abuse of it, it had to leave. It came to earth again, she said, because many people were meditating and asking to bring peace to the planet.

“Everybody’s set an intention to do the highest good with this energy, to pass it on to other people and let them pass it on. To help each other, that’s what we want for the planet,” said Kush.
