NHL lockout update
By Kenton Wolfe
The NHL has cancelled all games up to Dec. 15 with negotiations between the NHL owners and Players’ Association coming to a complete halt.
327 of the scheduled regular season games have been cancelled. Amongst the cancellations was the annual Winter Classic which was to be held in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the University of Michigan’s “Big House,” between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Though the Red Wings will no longer be playing in the Winter Classic, several members will take part in a charity game at the WFCU Centre Dec. 8. Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall and starting goaltender Jimmy Howard headline the star-studded roster, while Phoenix Coyote Keith Yandle and Pittsburgh Penguin James Neal will also join the group.
Also cancelled was the 2013 NHL All-Star Game, which scheduled to be held in Columbus, Ohio.
