Ontario educators issue a five-day strike notice
The union representing approximately 55,000 Ontario education workers has issued a five-day strike notice.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says a strike could begin as soon as Friday, Nov. 4, 2022.
Two school boards in Ontario have said they will close schools if education workers go on strike.
The province and the union are set to resume negotiations on Tuesday after last week’s mediation meetings failed because the parties were still at odds over wages.
It may not get to that. The province’s education minister, Stephen Lecce, tweeted “Kids will be in class.”
Lecce suggested back to work legislation will be tabled to avoid any work stoppages.
