Female police officers across Ontario came together last week to discuss the treatment of women in law enforcement.

The inaugural Advancing Women in Policing – Ontario 2019 Workshop was held on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and 21, 2019 in Ottawa. Guest speakers included people of law enforcement sharing their thoughts on the challenges that women must overcome in the line of duty.

“There are so many women and men who have and continue to work to accelerate equity and inclusion in policing,” said Insp. Tammy Fryer for the Windsor Police Service, who is also Co-Chair for Advancing Women in Policing-ON Working Group.

“We want to continue to move forward toward having truly inclusive policing organizations across Ontario.”

The goal of this workshop is to expose and confront issues regarding gender inclusion, diversity and equity in Ontario.
