Open Studios at School of Fine Arts

Students at the University of Windsor School of Fine Arts are showing off their talent. On Wednesday, March 14th, the senior students of the fine arts program held the event Open Studios to display their works to the public.
Anthony Saricino is an artist who mostly works with black and white pencil drawings, as a way to express his emotions.
“I think about drawing as this process to help me deal with something like grief or loss,” said Saricino, surrounded by his works. “The art becomes almost a residual effect of that gesture or process.”
The School of Fine Arts, located inside the Windsor Armouries, opened to the public in January 2018, after several years of construction and renovation at the site.
Niklas Pizzolitto is the president of the Student Association of the School of Fine Arts and while he is a musician and not an artist, he had opinions to give about the showcase.
“We’ve got things happening from master students of visual arts and master students of video, so you’re seeing some students who are working on more video projects and some who are working more on visual arts stuff,” said Pizzolitto. “It’s very cool seeing the difference between the film and visual arts side of things.”
Many people were in attendance, although numbers were not recorded. The University plans on doing this event again next year, as there will always be talent to showcase.
Open studios may be over, but the School of Fine Arts is always open to the public, so that the talent of the students within may be seen by all.
