Moggy’s Mission hosts a pilates class with both adoptable puppies and kittens present.
On Feb 6., Moggy’s Mission promised a workout focused on the body’s core and the inner and outer thighs with the addition of both cats and dogs for the entirety of the work out.
This was a class for people of all skill levels, ages 13 and older. There was also no age restriction for participating pets.
Courtney Rivait, the pilates instructor for the class, said the workout helped her through scoliosis and has been been very helpful for her overall.
“I started with yoga and through yoga I discovered Pilates and noticed my back and the rest of my body felt better,” said Rivait. “It was just something I really enjoyed. It’s really upbeat and it felt like a different pace [compared to other workouts].”
The price of admission was $20 per person and 100 per cent of the admission fee will be spent on the care for the rescue animals at Moggy’s Mission.
Amanda Scully, a program director at Moggy’s Mission, said the class’s purpose was to have a fun time and to raise money for the animal rescue.
“What makes this class unique is that you’re not walking into your typical pilates studio, but you are instead taking this class at Moggy’s Mission [among the animals],” said Scully. “This class brings awareness and educates and could encourage some people to possibly adopt a pet instead of purchasing one at a pet store.”
Adoption fees for puppies at Moggy’s Mission are $450 and kittens (under 7 months old) cost $175 with all sprays and vaccines included. It is also recommended to get the FIV/FeLV testing for an extra $50.
Moggy’s Missions will also be hosting a Cats and Mats kitty yoga from Feb. 8 to Feb. 22.
