A man is dead after being hit by a Via Rail passenger train just east of Banwell Road in Tecumseh Thursday afternoon.

Police and the coroner are investigating and the name of the man is not being released until his family has been notified.

“We know who he is, where it happened when it happened and how it happened,” said coroner Dr. Robert Drake.

Passengers on the train waited at the scene for about two hours while the train crew was being replaced.

“Imminent PTSD, I would think for the driver of the train, because they know it’s going to happen, there is just nothing they can do,” said Drake.

Sgt Doug Cooper of the Windsor Police said it appears not to be suspicious.
