Roll for Charity

Local theatre company, Tall Tale Theatre Co. hosted their 2020 Building Blocks fundraiser on the eve before Windsor’s Covid-19 lockdown in March, before anyone knew just how long or just how serious this pandemic would be.

With a full schedule of acting workshops ready to go for the year, Tall Tale had to quickly re-think their programming to be accessible via the likes of Zoom or Twitch. The group of creatives were able to come up with content ideas and immediately got to work on their new podcast: ‘The Fantasy Fantasia Podcast’ which releases weekly episodes of the the group playing Dungeons & Dragons and other role playing games.

With more than 14 episodes now released, the Fantasy Fantasia podcasters want to give back to their community in the best way they know how: Acting…and rolling, for a cause.

Roll For Charity will be hosted by Tall Tale Theatre, the Fantasy Fantasia Podcast and Brimstone Games. The event will be held on Dec. 9th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. on Twitch and will feature a livestream of the group playing one of the most iconic Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) adventures ever written: Curse of Strahd.

“Curse of Strahd is a household name in the house of pre-written adventures,” said Averey Meloche, Administrative Director of Tall Tale. “The great thing about the way this one is written is it can be played in a fresh way every time.”

But the event is not limited to avid RPGers. The event will be interactive, humorous and geared towards theatre lovers, gamers and those who just want to support the cause.

With the holiday season approaching and the pandemic hitting our communities hard, there are many people in Windsor who need support. The Windsor Downtown Mission provides meals, beds, health and employment supports, and outreach services to individuals in need.

“It’s our way of giving back to our wonderful community and to make a positive impact in the holiday season with quality entertainment,” said Eric Branget, Artistic Director of Tall Tall and a Chemical Laboratory Technology student at St. Clair College. “We want to assist them in helping as many people as possible over the upcoming months.”

Each donor to the Downtown Mission via the Facebook Fundraiser page will be entered into a draw to win prizes kindly donated by Brimstone Games, including a Dungeon Master Starter kit and Brimstone merch.

The event will take the audience and podcaster/actors through Castle Ravenloft as they hunt for the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner – and you’re invited.
