St. Clair sports briefs
The St. Clair College basketball program returns home for their final two games of the Ontario College Athletics Association Western region schedule. They start by hosting the Welland, Ontario based Niagara Knights this Sunday at the St. Clair SportsPlex at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The St. Clair Women (10-6) will begin by defending the hard-court at 1 p.m. being led by second year forward Shannon Kennedy who is among the OCAA scoring leaders with 19.1 points per game. Niagara (9-6) counters with six-foot forward Courtney Macpherson, and her 12.9 points per game as well as 10.9 rebounds per game.
The women will start at 1 p.m.
The St. Clair Men’s team (6-10) goes in with a “backs-against-the-wall” mentality chasing Niagara (6-9) and the Sheridan Bruins (7-9) for the sixth and final OCAA playoff spot.
The Saints will turn to five-foot 11 guard Trevelle Blythe who is averaging 11.2 points per game to go along with shooting 40 per cent from beyond the three-point line.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
