San Marino win first match in 20 years
The bottom of the FIFA ranking San Marino defeat Liechtenstein with a 1-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League D.
San Marino have not won a game in the last 20 years, their last win being in 2004, where they picked up their first first win against the same team, Liechtenstein.
The hero for San Marino was Nicko Sensoli. The 19-year-old who plays for Sangiuliano, played his first international game and scored the game winning goal in the 53 minute.
The country that resides in central Italy with a population of 33,660 as of 2022, finally have something to celebrate and fans were in tears, broadcasted on national television.
The team ended their win drought that was 140 games long.
They have scored only 34 goals and have been scored on 845 times. They played their first official match in 1990.

San Marino will now try and take this momentum to their following game where they play Moldova in a friendly match on Sept. 10. Their next game in the UEFA Nations League will be Oct. 10 against Gibraltar. They are on top of the table of their group with Gibraltar and Liechtenstein. One game has only been played, as Gibraltar will play their first game soon on Sept. 8 against Liechtenstein.
