VegFest Windsor 2017

Have fun and become inspired! Come to at the WFCU Centre on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the second annual VegFest event. VegFest Windsor is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to celebrate kindness towards animals and living a healthy life.

Experience a presentation by Ingrid Newkirk, president and co-founder of PETA, the world’s largest animal rights organization. You will also learn a few culinary skills from a vegan cooking demo and can stop by the youth section with your kids for games, activities and more.

Admission is $5.

Ride for Refuge

Cycle, walk and fundraise for The Downtown Mission during the annual Ride For Refuge on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Ride for Refuge is family-friendly fundraiser supporting charities who provide refuge and hope for displaced, vulnerable and exploited people everywhere.

The Windsor Ride For Refuge will start and end at The Downtown Mission.

Route options include 10 km, 25 km and 50 km rides and a 5 km walk.

Rest stops will be available on all distances.

There will be snacks at rest stops and lunch will be available for participants at the conclusion of their ride or walk.

Poetry At The Manor Volume 5

An intimate evening of poetry and storytelling with Marty Gervais takes place at Willistead Manor on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Each year, Poet Laureate Marty Gervais teams up with the City of Windsor’s Cultural Affairs Office to present Poetry at the Manor.

This year’s guest poets include: Laurence Hutchman (North York, Ontario), Kim Fahner (Sudbury, Ontario), John B. Lee (Brantford and Norfolk County, Ontario), Deirdre Kessler (Charlottetown, PEI) and Tom Cull (London, Ontario).

In addition to public readings and discussion, there will be book signings and sales, literary giveaways and a featured reading from the Windsor125 Signature Project “A Group of Seven” poets.

Admission is free but seating is limited.
